Janet Leadon Obituary

Janet Street Leadon

November 3, 1931 – March 22, 2021

Janet Street Leadon died peacefully on March 22, 2021, at the Summer House Memory Unit on the Wesley Palms Retirement Community campus in Pacific Beach.

Graduating cum laude in Medical Technology from Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, Janet became a licensed Bioanalyst, working at Scripps Clinic, La Jolla, later managing the medical laboratory at Alvarado Hospital.

She and her husband owned homes in Solana Beach from 1984-2014, and Rancho Bernardo from 1965-1984, where Janet was an active member of the Rancho Belles. She was also active in St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Del Mar, volunteering in their Thrift Shop. For 25 years, Janet and Roland personally loaded their van regularly, delivering bread donated from local grocers to the homeless shelters.

Janet enjoyed vacations at her family's summer cottage in the Thousand Islands, Ontario, Canada. She and Roland traveled extensively, including trips to China, Europe, and Africa. When home, she made entertaining an art form for family and friends, gracing her tables with lovely roses from her gardens. Janet passionately cared for her cats, so precious to her. She supported the SD Zoo, Humane Society, and Helen Woodward as tribute.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Hastings Street and John Northcott Street, and her husband Roland E. Leadon. She is survived by her sister Elizabeth Street Sebring and her brother Robert Hastings Street (Paula Street). She was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews.

Interment services for family are planned for June 12, 2 p.m., at El Camino Memorial Park, San Diego.
