Janet Brett McKinnon, born July 7, 1931 in Oakland, California, died of natural causes in Denver, Colorado on October 4, 2021. Jan reached her 90th Birthday in July and enjoyed a grand celebration with close family on the beach at her cherished La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club, the site of many family celebrations and happy memories. Her family reminisced with Jan over her long and eventful life, and shared fond memories of the many friends and good times enjoyed by Jan and her husband Murray over their 50 years together in La Jolla, Houston, Calgary, and early times in Los Angeles, Carmel, and Hawaii. In addition to enjoying a great network of friends whom she and Murray truly treasured, Jan and Murray were enthusiastic travelers and their many trips abroad brought her some of the most joyful times of her life. Jan loved her last years in La Jolla and the close friends she spent so many hours with at the beach. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Murray and her beloved daughter Diane, Jan is survived by her daughter Caroline and son Douglas and his wife Patricia of Denver, Colorado as well as grandson Evan Arrowsmith and his wife Karen, and granddaughters Alexandra Eliot, Catherine McKinnon, Madeline McKinnon and Elisabeth McKinnon. Jan's great-grandchildren Brayden and Zoe Arrowsmith complete her legacy. As Jan wished, her ashes will be offered to the Pacific Ocean to join both Murray and Diane following a private family gathering later this year. Contributions in Jan's name to the La Jolla Playhouse www.lajollaplayhouse.org would be most welcome. Audentes Fortuna Juvat
