Jimmy M. Bangaoil passed away peacefully with family by his side in his home in San Diego, CA.
He was born in Alilem, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He was the second oldest child of seven brothers and one sister.
He served the U.S. Navy for 20 years as an Electrician's Mate. He met his wife in Chicago, IL while attending "B" school in Great Lakes. They married at St. James Catholic Church in Chicago, IL in 1965. The Navy took them to different parts of the U.S. It was in San Diego that Jimmy and his family settled down and Jimmy retired from the Navy with the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 1977. He later worked at NASSCO as an electrician for 9 years, and then for the USPS for 13 years which he finally retired from in 2000.
His interests included working in the garden, playing card and computer games, number and word puzzles, gambling, reading, and traveling.
Jimmy is survived by Erlinda Sibayan, his wife of 44 years, daughters Nancy (David), Joyce, and son James (Kim), and four grandchildren: Amber, Lucas, Kaeli and Josie. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend.
Viewing will be from 5 to 9 p.m. at Glen Abbey Memorial Park on Monday June 21st, Scripture at 6 p.m. and Rosary at 7 p.m. Memorial Mass will be Tuesday, June 22nd, at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Parish.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Corpus Christi Catholic Parish.
