Dr.B was my fist "real" boss at my first "real" job out of graduate school. He made a lasting impression on me and positively influenced by career. He was a great role model. I appreciated his kindness and his humor. I will always remember him fondly and be grateful for having known him.
My deepest sympathy to his family.

Dr.Barrons was the one that Kipling referred to in the poem "TF" when he wrote " BEING ABLE TO WALK WITH KINGS AND STILL KEEP THE COMMON TOUCH".He taught everyone he came in touch with, regardless of their job classification at GD that they were important . He was respected by all who knew him.
GOD BLESS HIS FAMILY.

The Lord promised His people in the book of Jeremiah, "Then I will give you shepherds after My own heart, who will feed you on knowledge and understanding." John Barrons was one of those shepherds in my life. He nurtured me with wisdom, care, direction, protection, correction, motivation, but most of all, with selfless love. I am grateful for his life and leadership.

Throughout my career I can count on one hand the number of people who have had a huge influence on my life. Dr. B not only lives on in my heart as a huge influence in my life; he has also taught me the importance of guiding others in their journey. I feel honored to have been a part of your life.

Jane, I was so saddened to hear of John's passing, and of course of John Sullivan's. You two were so kind to me when I arrived in San Diego back in 1982, and John was an exceptional mentor and support. I remember when he gave me a book on "Dress for Success" - I was shocked when he gave it to me, but later understood his wisdom outright and in his humor. I can't say enought about my begginings with John and Convair, great people and such familial surroundings. God Bless you and the family, and most importantly God Bless John for his wonderful fight and his humanity.

I got to know Dr "B" best when he was Ethics Director at Convair Division and I held the same position at Space Systems. John's life was a living model of Ethics at its finest. I am but one of many that will miss you my friend. May God grant you the peace you so richly deserve. Linda and I send our heartfelt sympathy to Jane and family.

To Jane and Family: Dr. B hired me into General Dynamics in 1982. Over the next 10 years he guided, mentored, coached and advanced me in the company including my promotion to Corporate director. During that time, I also considered John as a true friend who was a pleasure to be around. I, like numerous others, was happy to have known John and know he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Leadership comes in many forms. John was extraordinary as a leader and naval officer. His style was firm, deep, quiet, and approachable. Together, these qualities are extraordinary in anyone, but especially for a naval officer. I miss you, my friend.

Dr "B" your name is listed in Webster under the word "MENTOR" you educated me and supported me so that I could successfully work full time and continue my education in completing my degree program at Univ. of Redlands. I will be forever grateful, that I had the honor of working with you at General Dynamics Convair Div. in Ethics/EEO Dept.... you were a true leader and mentor. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to share and care! The world is better place, because of you. God Bless and Peace, to your loving family during this time of sorrow.

John was one of those very rare poeple that melded with and enriched the existence of everyone whose life he touched. He was viewed as a father figure, brother, mentor, and dear friend to so many people. John was loved by them all.

John had a fine career in the Grossmont District. I always enjoyed working with him and appreciated all the many ways he helped me as a new school administrator. His varied and successful careers in education, the military, and business speak to his many skills, hard work, and wonderful personality. John will be missed by all who knew him.

I knew John both as a fellow instructor at National University and when he headed training at General Dynamics Kearny Mesa. He was a lively chap, with a rich sense of humor, and very supportive of colleagues.
