Joseph William Tody January 22, 1923 - July 8, 2015 POINT LOMA -- Joseph William Tody was born in Pontiac, Michigan on January 22, 1923. His family moved to San Diego when he was 16 years old. Joe graduated from Point Loma High School, San Diego State College, later earning his MBA. He taught high school math and science in San Diego Unified School District and later became a school psychologist. Joe was a talented athlete in basketball, racquetball, surfing, golf, and competitive swimming. At 18 he joined the Air Corps, served in the South Pacific on a B-24 during World War II. A few years later Joe joined the Air Corps Reserves, retired with rank of Major. In September 1948 he married Jane Tody and treasured 66 years of life together, traveling to many states and countries. Joe was a volunteer at Sharp CabriIIo Hospital, Midway School, and Lindbergh Airport. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather with a great sense of humor and quick wit. Joe was preceded in death by his daughter, Roxanne, and his son, David. He is survived by his wife, Jane, grand-daughters Monica McAuliffe (James) of San Diego, Stephanie Le, and Rachelle Coler (Ken) of Washington state. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Hunter and Logan of San Diego, Natalie and Harrison of Washington, niece Judy Thomas, nephews John and Larry Luxenburg of San Diego.
