Kelly Smith Memeo September 17, 1971 - November 26, 2021 Vista
Kelly Smith Memeo passed away peacefully at the age of 50 on November 26, 2021, after a courageous battle with triple negative breast cancer. She was born on September 17, 1971, in San Diego, CA, to Linda Russell Bristol and Sidney Smith.
A dedicated Nurse Practitioner, Kelly completed her B.S. in Nursing at East Tennessee State University while balancing raising her two daughters as a single parent. She received her Master's Degree at University of Alabama, Huntsville, and completed her nurse practitioner clinicals at Vanderbilt University. During her career as a nurse, she worked in the fields of critical care/ICU, burn unit, and interventional radiology.
Kelly grew up in Carlsbad, CA (CHS class of 1989) and moved to Nashville, TN, at age 20, where she met and married the love of her life, Daniel, in 2012. The two of them made their home in Nashville, TN, before relocating to Vista, CA, in 2016 with Sydney and Ashley and their two Aussie-doodles, Ozzy and Pepper.
Passionate about helping others, Kelly was always willing to spend time being a mentor. She was an active listener and was proud of being a lifetime learner. One of her favorite things to do was to have conversations with friends over a good glass of wine. Kelly will be remembered for her sense of humor, her love of her family and friends, and her devotion to her nursing career.
Kelly is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Memeo; daughters Sydney and Ashley Bachman; mother and step-father, Linda and Jeff Bristol; sisters, Casey Brown (Ken) and Jade Bristol; nieces Jillian, Miranda, Isabella, Lily, and Lyric; nephews, Peter and Luke; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Sidney Smith.
A celebration of life will take place in January 2022.
