Kevin Patrick Gormly - October 15, 1963 to June 24, 2016 (52), San Diego. Kevin Patrick Gormly passed away after his 9-month battle with brain cancer on June 24, 2016 at Scripps Mercy Hospital. Kevin was born in Norfolk, Virginia and attended Hilltop High School in Chula Vista where he played on the school's football team for three years, receiving All-Conference honors his senior year. He received his BA in Social Sciences with a Spanish Minor from San Diego State in 1988 and his MA of Science in Educational Administration from National University in 2003. He worked for 22 years in the San Diego Unified School District, devoting his talents to positively impacting the lives of thousands of children. Kevin began teaching Social Studies and Spanish at Point Loma High School (PLHS) in 1999 and served as PLHS's Vice-Principal from 2003 until this year, where he was lovingly known by all as the ""Gorm Storm,"" and where students, faculty and staff alike marveled at his stature and his always perfectly gelled hair. Kevin met Veronica, his loving wife of 15 years, when they both began teaching at PLHS in 1999, and together they had two beautiful children, Samantha and Joseph. He loved coaching his children's sports teams, spending time together at home playing in the backyard with his family, and watching the San Diego Padres and Chargers. Kevin loved to surf and spent many early mornings catching a wave at his favorite beaches in La Jolla and Del Mar. His strong faith and love of his family is what is he known best for, and his smile, his kindness and his humble nature will never been forgotten. Kevin is now reunited in heaven with his sister, Anne G. Timmons. In addition to his wife, Veronica, and his children, Samantha and Joseph, he is survived by his parents, Captain Robert A. and Rebecca T. Gormly (USN-RET), his nephew, Sidney A. Timmons, and many close friends who have been like family to him over the years. As he was loved, he will be missed. Visitation/Rosary at Poway Bernardo Mortuary from 4:30 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 5, 2016. Funeral Mass and reception at St. Gregory the Great at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 6, 2016.
