Lillian Coca Obituary

COCA, LILLIAN DAGLAS Lily Coca passed away in her home on June 24, 2008. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and daughter. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 6, 1958, and came to San Diego with her parents, James and Debbie Daglas and brother Tom, in 1971. She married her husband Ron, in August 1986 and in November 1991, gave birth to their beautiful daughter, Despina. Besides being a devoted mother and homemaker, she was an active member and supporter of Sound Unlimited, a show choir at Bonita Vista High School, in which her daughter was a member. Lily loved going to Greece, where her mother was born, to visit her extended Greek family and to explore her Greek heritage. Her devotion to family and friends, her passion for life and her beautiful smile will be greatly missed by her family who survives her, and by all who knew her. Viewing Sunday, June 29th, 5 to 9:00 p.m., at Glen Abbey Mortuary Chapel. Services Monday, June 30th, 10:00 a.m., St. Spiridon, 3655 Park Blvd., San Diego. Our "crew" will never be the same without our beloved Lily sitting amongst us. Her quick wit, beautiful smile and infectious laugh will be held in our hearts forever. We find comfort in knowing Lily will continue to join us in spirit for all our future gatherings-birthday lunches, weekend getaways and dinner parties.
Here's to you Lily...may you rest in peace. Until we meet again,
Your eternal friends,
Diana, Julie, Marla, Melodie, Sandy and Teresa.

I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Lily when her daughter, Despina, joined Sound Unlimited. It was obvious from the start that she was a very special woman. Lily had the unique ability to make everyone she met feel special. Her positive energy, loving personality and warmth, touched all who were fortunate enough to know her. Our hearts and prayers go out to her family. She will be greatly missed.

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

I only met Lily a few years ago, when Despina joined Sound Unlimited Show Choir at the high school and Lily right away began volunteering to drive the girls to shows, chaperone trips, and joined our casino night fundraising committee. She was such an asset to all of us, with her vivacious personality, and good humor. Right away, she volunteered her parent's home for several Saturdays as we made decorations and baskets (Thanks again, Debbie and James). She didn't hesitate to volunteer Ron's services as he build cabinets at the theatre and the homecoming display. Lily, you always had such a good heart, and we will truly miss you!

To The Daglas Family, I was so shocked to hear of Lilys passing. When we attended Patrick Henry HS , so many years ago, Lily, Georganne and myself were the best of friends. We attended church, concerts and did so many wonderful teenage things together. I remember, we would walk to Lilys for lunch, and her Dad, would always make us lunch and then drive us back to school. As I look back ,I have such wonderful memories of being so young and naive. May God give her whole family the wisdom and strength, to endure your heartache.Rest in peace our Orthodox Sister. Love,Elaine Pilafas-Geschke
