I was saddened to hear Marilyn Elizabeth Thompson Richmond, accidentally. I met her when she married my friend Don Richmond later in life. I was a co-best man with Don's son, at the their wedding at Pearl Harbor Naval Base Chapel.

I met Marilyn in San Diego at an AOPA event. She came in late and set next to me. She noticed my Corporate Helicopter shirt and struck up a conversation. I never got to fly with her in her beautiful Bell 407 but it's still there at Montgomery Field where she kept it in a hanger and sold to someone else at the field. I was thinking about her and knew she had been ill so it saddens me to find that she has passed. A truly wonderful person. Looking forward to seeing her again in the heavens!

I saw Marilyn's obituary online just yesterday, 07/16/'23 and was saddened her "Flying West". She married my good friend, late Don W. Richmond in July 2015, on Don's 84th bd when she was 76, at Pearl Harbor Naval Base Chapel. I was honored to be a best man, along with Don's son.
Marilyn was not only a physical beautiful lady, but also one with beautiful, gracious and loving heart. Marilyn and Don were so gracious to have included me in some of their social events. She will be missed. God bless her soul, RIP, amin

Marilyn's strength and passion added depth to the AOPA Board of Visitors. Although her son Dean "stole" Jill from us at the AOPA, we have always celebrated their loving and bountiful union as well.

I remember the day I met Marilyn and the `presence´ she had when entering the room! A deeply passionate woman, her love of the highest levels aviation made her a standout! But the 5 grandkids eclipsed aviation and between family and faith she lived a life which will refuse to be forgotten!

Marilyn became a very special friend after first meeting her 15 years ago in our home in rural Lancaster County, PA. We so enjoyed our visits with her in Bethesda, MD and San Diego. She always expressed graciousness and kindness toward us.
