Marshall Haraden Obituary

HARADEN JR. MARSHALL B. Marshall B. Haraden Jr., age 72, of Del Mar, passed away on August 24, 2002 in Thousand Oaks. Marshall was born on July 25, 1930, in Portland, Maine and graduated from Winthrop High School where he was a star player on the football team and was named "All Scholastic" by The Globe and The Post in 1948. He then attended Tabor Academy and graduated from Brown University were he played varsity football before entering the Marine Corp. He served his country for 30 years, and achieved his final ranking of Colonel. Marshall was a man who felt most alive when he was challenging himself physically and was proud of his numerous athletic accomplishments. He became an avid runner and participated in many marathons, of which San Diego, Boston and Las Vegas were just a few. Even after he could not physically run anymore, Marshall still made the effort to walk at least 3 miles everyday. Marshall leaves behind his beloved wife of 46 years, Harriett Haraden, and his two sons John Haraden and Marshall B. Haraden III and wife Joanna. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Nicholas Haraden, Anna Haraden, Jessica Haraden and Marshall B. Haraden IV, as well as his brother Barry Haraden and sisters Sheila Margotta and Jeanette Macina. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2002 at 2 p.m. at St. Peter ' s Episcopal Church, Del Mar. (858) 755-1616.
