RIP Peter. We´ll never forget our camping trip through Europe in 1974 with our wives and two young infants. You were a wonderful neighbor and friend during our times in Morocco. So sorry we lost touch over the years.

We are extremely sad to learn about Dr. Taft's untimely passing. Dr. Taft was most generous and patient. He was never too busy to stop in the vascular lab and give advice and feedback, spend time to explain or even just chat. We were all very fond of his weekly vocabulary trivia. Some of our technologists are still holding on to the little yellow post-it notes he wrote to give words of encouragement for a job well done or correct our studies and to educate us. Because of Dr. Taft´s vascular surgery and computer knowledge Kaiser Permanente had a computerized vascular lab already since 1990. The Vascular lab was not only the first computerized lab and the biggest lab but also the first accredited in the SoCal region. Due to Dr. Taft's generosity the children´s ward at Zion Hospital enjoyed a big screen plasma TV as soon as this technology was available. The vascular lab enjoys the product of his photography in the form of a wonderful print and the list of his generosity goes on and on. He was a wonderful man, mentor and surgeon who not only saved many lives but also changed many lives for the better, and his legacy continues. He made the world a better place and will not be forgotten by his vascular lab family.

To Peter's family,
I wish to pay respect to Peter. He and I started working at Kaiser in August 1979, on the same day,as I recall. I was proud to see him advancing, demonstrating his leadership ability. His kindness is a quality I remember.
Sincerely,
Ellen Kramar Banks

My expression of love to the Taft family.
Peter was a great friend and colleague to my husband, Joe. With Joe contemplating retirement, Peter introduced him to the Kaiser experience, thus extending Joe's vascular surgery career an additional few years.
I assure you Joe appreciated and enjoyed it immensely. Thank you Peter and family.

It is with sadness and remembrance that I read of Peter´s passing today. He was an intern with me at UCSD when I was the chief surgical resident. Sadness to learn of his death too soon and remembrance to appreciate and recognize the impressive legacy he has left and to be able to have counted him as a colleague and friend.
My deep condolences.
