Reinhold L. Noor

San Diego, CA

In 1955, Reinhold L. Noor left Germany. He was an innovative and creative engineer, and a pioneer of electronic assembly in the USA, Japan and Mexico. He started and managed one of the first maquiladoras or assembly plants in Tijuana.

He was a man of charm and education, and with a fantastic sense of humor. He loved opera and classical music, as he relaxed at home with his favorite meal and a glass of wine.

He loved his walks at Sunset Cliffs and the Cabrillo National Monument."There is no place in the world like San Diego" he used to say. He loved and admired the cruise ships and military aircraft grace the San Diego Bay.

He was a one-of-a-kind man, and his wife Cristina and his children Armand, Fernando and his wife Claire will miss him dearly.

Loving husband and father. Caring friend. Successful businessman and entrepeneur. Complete gentleman. All these phrases describe our dear friend Reinhold but it is difficult to find words to express the loss we feel at his parting. Our lives were enriched by knowing him and his wonderful wife Cristina. In the Mexican tradition, a person never truly dies while they continue to live in our memory. And so it shall be with Reinhold. Bon voyage Lieber freund!

I met Reinhold at his manufacturing plant in Tijuana. He was a wealth of knowledge which he shared with me. I truly respected him. I introduced my wife, Sarah and our young daughters to him. Reinhold took us to dinner at an Italian Restaurant in Point Loma which he loved. Whenever we would go to San Diego we would invite him to go to dinner with us at that same wonderful restaurant. Sarah and the girls thought he was such a sweet and wonderful man. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

I met Reinhold in the early 1980's at his manufacturing facility in Tijuana. I was a salesman selling electronic production tools. He was very generous with his time, and fascinated me with his profound knowledge whether it be manufacturing processes, German history or the financial markets. I hadn't seen him since 1989 but he left a lasting impression on me. Some people are like that. Sorry to hear of his passing.

Reinhold was a dear friend, a true gentleman, who brightened my life with wisdom and humor. He also had a deep appreciation and notice of the natural beauty that surrounded us during our many walks. I will always remember him with much kindness and love.
