MEMORIES & CONDOLENCES
Dear Barb and the Humpheys family:
There are engineers and then there are "real engineers." Bob was a "real engineer." Alice and I (although occasionally just myself) enjoyed seeing you and Bob at the annual Austin-Healey Club San Diego Christmas party. Both of you were very welcoming.
Barb: You and Bob were such a great-looking and loving couple. Bob's Austin-Healey looked so much better than mine. Showing my age, I am an original owner of my 1967 3000 MKIII. It still runs well, but it would be better if Bob could have helped me out.
I was a career Naval Officer and Navy pilot, so I had great resepct for our Navy civil engineers. The ones who graduated with me from the U.S. Naval Academy were "super sharp," so I know Bob fit into that high level category. To the Navy's credit, they always hand-picked their civil engineers. I was a Vietnam-era verteran like Bob, so I know the dedication and commitment to our efforts by Bob and the other pathfinders.
The funeral service at Miramer National Cemetery was very special, since the CEC and Bob's service were important parts of Bob's legacy. Ther was a very loyal contingent from the Austin-Healey Club of San Diego at the funeral service, some of whom brought their spiffed up Austin-Healeys in recogniton and honor of you and Bob.
We will miss Bob so much. I hope to see you at the next Austin-Healey Christmas Party.

You were always a good brother to me, Bob. Saving me from spiders, checking on me and taking me out to dinner while I was in nursing school and numerous visits after we grew up. You always had my back and you are missed. Barb, you are my only sister and as time goes on remember you can count on us! Linda

Bob and Barbara shared a great sense of humor and teased me for years about a blond wig. We had many laughs over that.
They were also generous friends with their time, coming to see me in Coronado Hospital after my hip surgery. I will never forget Bob.
