Robert Rynearson Obituary

Robert Dean Rynearson was born on November 17, 1945 in Seattle, Washington and died April 25, 2024 at his home in Rancho San Diego. The second of four children of Robert Sr. and Frances, Bob grew up in Granada Hills, California. Although at times mischievous, he was a good-natured and great brother. Bob attended East Carolina University before eventually settling in San Diego's East County. Mr. Rynearson was a math instructor at Granite Hills High Schools for 28 of his 35 year teaching career and imparted wisdom whether it be the math required for day-to-day life or solving complex algebraic equations. He was a student favorite and as such was a well-known pillar within the community. He was also a devoted husband and father that nurtured the success of his four children. Bob relished in the academic and athletic accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. From pole vaulting to water polo, he enjoyed watching his children compete and connected these experiences to life lessons. His passion for supporting athletes even extended to the students he taught. He was a great teacher, coach, and example to his family and his students alike. Later in life he took pleasure in attending Aztec sporting events, especially basketball. Bob was always up for a good meal and a cold beer at "The Ranch". His pride was inspired by the happiness of shared experiences, the ability to fix anything, and watching his family grow and succeed despite the challenges life delivers. He possessed a sense of humor and charm that made making connections with people effortless. The impact Bob had on those lucky enough to share his company will be cherished. He will be greatly missed. A celebration of life is planned for June 8 at 3pm at Granite Hills High School's Boz Theater.

So sorry to hear about Ryno. He was a great teacher and always was up beat and supportive. I used to eat lunch with him everyday after I came to Granite as a teacher. His dry wit and humor along with that mischievous smile always made lunch a joy. He also had great tips on getting ready for retirement that benefited our family greatly.
I will surely miss him.

Mr. Rynearson was my Senior year Consumer Math teacher in 2000-2001 school year. What he taught me that year prepared me for my entire adult life. He was an amazing teacher! Thank you for everything you taught me, and hundreds of other students over your teaching years. My condolences go out to his family, and they will remain in my prayers.

one of the only teachers who challenged me. He brought the best out of me. I too could be mischievous, but ultimately had a very good grasp on numbers and was a better person, student and mathematician after his tutelage.

Mr. Rynearson was the best teacher I ever had, and luckily I had him for two years, he went above and beyond with me and helping me get my Geometry grade up. I remember he would always say that Las Parillas taco shop in Rancho San Diego was better than Los Panchos, I disagreed, he told me if I got my grade up he would buy me a burrito from Las Parillas, so I did, and he bought me that burrito, it wasn´t as good as Los Panchos!
We had many conversations about sports especially his sons that were pole vaulters, he always talked about them, he was just a good dude, he really cared about his students and it showed!
Thank you for the memories Ryno, you truly made an impact on so many lives, we will continue to celebrate your life!

I´m so sorry to hear of Mr. Rynearson´s passing. I just saw this post and am sad I missed his celebration of life today. I was a student in his math class in the mid 80´s. When I needed extra help he was there to help me. I am forever grateful for him to take his time after school to teach me. He made algebra a fun and challenging class. My prayers and condolences to his family and friends. He was a wonderful teacher and person.

I worked with Bob at Granite Hills High School. He was my next door neighbor on campus and a good friend. He taught me so many things about teaching that I still use to this day. He was always kind, funny and smiling.
