Candito, Rudolph Valentino 06/30/1927 ~ 05/06/2013 SAN DIEGO -- Rudy "Chuck" Candito passed away at Palomar Medical Center on Monday with his family at his side. He is survived by his four children, Dona Amidon, her husband Dieter and grandchildren Derick and Daniel and their families; Rudy Candito Jr. of San Marcos, CA, and grandsons, Justin and Brandon Candito; Rick Candito of Anchorage, Alaska; and Lori (Candito) Welcome of Stonington, Connecticut and her husband Jeffrey and grandchildren Ashley, Katherine and Eric Welcome, as well as many nieces and nephews in California and Connecticut. He is also survived by his siblings, Albert, Jeannie, Martha, Alfred and their families, as well as his faithful canine companion, Chloe. He is predeceased by his wife of forty years, Marieanne Elizabeth Candito, daughter-in-law, Teresa (Dorman) Candito, and siblings Nancy, Mary, Vera, Valley and Phil. Rudy was a proud World War II veteran who served on the USS Yahara. He was an outstanding chef and delighted in sharing his culinary creations with family and friends. His love for his children and especially his grandchildren were one of his greatest pleasures in life. A devoted and gifted gardener, he had a passion for growing the largest and tastiest tomatoes ever! A celebration of Rudy's life will take place on Friday, May 10th, 6 p.m. at the club house at Rancho San Marcos, 971 Borden Road, San Marcos, CA 92069, at 6 p.m.
