Russell Stolnack Obituary

STOLNACK, SR. RUSSELL WILBUR Russell, passed away on October 14, 2003 in his home in La Mesa, Calif., where he had resided for 40 years. He came into this world on November 30, 1921 as the fourth of nine siblings, in Chicago, Ill., survived only by his sister Geraldine. He was a wonderful and humorous man, he was a guiding and loving father, devoted grandfather, loyal friend and a truly selfless individual - always thinking of others. He lived his life with a smile on his face, a kind word, a timely joke and an open heart. He is survived by his three children, Valerie Tallman of Jamul, Barbara Luke of Folsom, Calif. and Russ Stolnack, Jr. (local comedian, a.k.a. Russ T. Nailz,) of San Diego, along with seven grandchildren, Brian, Nicole, Katie, Chip, Tyler, Allison and Breanna. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army where he earned a purple heart. He was a long time member of the Elks Club, where he enjoyed bowling teams and golf tournaments. He retired from Teamsters Local Union 683 after 25 years and spent much of his early retirement on the golf course - a favorite passion. He also worked as Marshal for Sea ' N ' Air Golf Course in Coronado. He will be greatly missed, but with cherished memories that will remain in our hearts forever. A wake is scheduled on Friday, October 17, from 4- 8 p.m. Funeral services are Saturday, October 18, 10 a.m. both at Greenwood Memorial Park & Mortuary, San Diego.
