Ruth Ellen Noreuil

The family wishes to put a memory book together to honor Ruth. We welcome all those who knew and loved her to write their favorite memories of her and include pictures if desired. Please send by August 31, 2014 to luannnlee@gmail.com. Ruth Ellen (Hancock) Noreuil of San Diego, CA, formerly of Pekin, Illinois passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014. Her 84th birthday would have been celebrated on August 8th. Ruth was born in 1930 in to John and Stella (Harmon) Hancock. She married Louis O. Noreuil, Jr. on August 8th 1948 in Pekin. Ruth loved children and helping others. For many years, she worked as an instructional aide with special education students. She loved to sew, read and spend time with her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Although Ruth had been suffering from Alzheimer's Disease for many years, 2013 turned out to be one of her better later life years. After moving out of her home, she began participating in a daily memory care program. She smiled and laughed more, and clearly became more like her previous outgoing self until a serious fall on December 23, 2013. In conjunction with the Alzheimer's Disease, it was two serious falls, two broken hips, and two surgeries that eventually lead to her passing. She was preceded in death by her husband Louis (2008), her parents, two brothers and two sisters. Ruth is survived by her son, Scott Noreuil; daughter, Luann Noreuil Lee; five grandchildren; Andi, Evan, Tai, Chrissie and Amy; and a great grandson, Forrest. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends on September 21, 2014
