Ruth Noreuil Obituary

The family wishes to put a memory book together to honor Ruth. We welcome all those who knew and loved her to write their favorite memories of her and include pictures if desired. Please send by August 31, 2014 to [email protected]. Ruth Ellen (Hancock) Noreuil of San Diego, CA, formerly of Pekin, Illinois passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014. Her 84th birthday would have been celebrated on August 8th. Ruth was born in 1930 in to John and Stella (Harmon) Hancock. She married Louis O. Noreuil, Jr. on August 8th 1948 in Pekin. Ruth loved children and helping others. For many years, she worked as an instructional aide with special education students. She loved to sew, read and spend time with her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Although Ruth had been suffering from Alzheimer's Disease for many years, 2013 turned out to be one of her better later life years. After moving out of her home, she began participating in a daily memory care program. She smiled and laughed more, and clearly became more like her previous outgoing self until a serious fall on December 23, 2013. In conjunction with the Alzheimer's Disease, it was two serious falls, two broken hips, and two surgeries that eventually lead to her passing. She was preceded in death by her husband Louis (2008), her parents, two brothers and two sisters. Ruth is survived by her son, Scott Noreuil; daughter, Luann Noreuil Lee; five grandchildren; Andi, Evan, Tai, Chrissie and Amy; and a great grandson, Forrest. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends on September 21, 2014

Ruth was the best mother-in-law ever. She was kind, understanding, always honest, ever-so giving, thoughtful, generous - there aren't enough words. She was such a great "Grandma" to our three kids. So many fun gifts, the Halloween costumes she made every year for them, the leprechaun traps, the girls' dress-up clothes she created and sewed. And those hand-made "baby blankets", that I have to say, Ruth, you are looking down and seeing SOMEONE is still sleeping with almost 30 years later! You and Lou were so loving and patient with your grandkids - well, maybe not the time you took our three to McDonald's and they not only would NOT come out of the "bin of plastic balls", they proceeded to toss as many as they could outside. You did laugh LATER and of course, took photos! How talented you were always following our whole family with your camera and making print copies for us. We will always remember you for your big heart, and unconditional family love. All the wonderful memories you gave us,
Sue (Scott, Andraya, Evan, and Tiana) Noreuil

Ruth was a valued friend and co-worker. When she worked at Avocado School she patiently helped students improve their skills in reading and math. Her creative art projects were a favorite activity for students. She was talented, organized, and brought a smile to all who worked with her. Her family was so important to her and she loved sharing about their activities and accomplishments. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
