SAM JAMES MARINO

MARINO, SAM JAMES Sam Marino passed away peacefully at his home on December 12, 2012, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 7, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan to Giuseppe and Stefana Marino, immigrants from Sicily. In 1944 his family moved to San Diego. In 1957, while on furlough in the Army, he was engaged to Rosary Moceri and they were married in 1958. He built his family a home in the college area himself and later moved to Pacific Beach. He owned Sorrento Pizza on El Cajon Blvd. with his father and worked in the produce business until he retired. In High School, he was very athletic and excelled in track and field. He loved to bowl and had a killer hook ball. He was also a craftsman who could build anything from a house to a dollhouse. Sam will be lovingly and forever remembered by his wife Rosary, son Joseph, three daughters Stephanie, Grace and Rosary, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A Rosary will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church on Monday, December 17, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass and interment at El Camino Memorial Park.
