Samuel Daly Obituary

DALY, SAMUEL FRANCIS May 30, 1920 to May 1, 2007
Sam passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on May 1, 2007, with all his children by his bedside. Sam was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on May 30, 1920 to Frank and Aida Daly. Sam was one of six children having three sisters and two brothers: Hannah, Phyllis, Mary, Bob, and Frank. He is survived by his brother Bob, the last surviving sibling. Sam served in the Navy in WWII on the USS Alabama. He was a man of many lives having been in a car that was hit by a train in the 1940s. His back was broken and spent six months in the hospital recovering. In the early 1950s, he contracted Tuberculosis while in the Navy and was hospitalized for one and a half years. In 1946, he married and had two children: Frank and Kathy. In 1965, he gathered up Frank and Kathy and headed to California in a 1960 Ford and a home-made tent trailer. They traveled across the country for two months, at one point living at Doheny State Beach for a time. They finally settled in Huntington Park, California where he met Cynthia in 1966. They married and raised her four children: Curtis, Gene, Cindy and Clint. Sam and Cynthia, (Cynthia, his beloved wife passed away two and a half years ago), loved to walk along the Mission Beach boardwalk every day without fail, take drives to the mountains, enjoy family gatherings and the company of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sam worked hard to support his family, providing a loving and safe home. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved his children greatly, and allowed all his grandchildren to get away with everything...he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. We love you Pop "A bushel and a peck..."Please sign the guest book at obituaries.uniontrib.com

To the Daly & Neilsen Families,
We will always remember Sam as a father who loved his family. Our friendship started when Stan & Cindy were dating. He was a likeable person and his laughter made you feel at ease. He will be missed, but we know he's happy because he is now with his loving wife, Cynthia.
In sympathy and Friendshp...and love.

Sam, you loved mom, you loved your kids, you were witty, tough, and always there for us... thanks for believing in me, if not for all you did for us, our lives would have turned out so different. Thank you... love you, miss you, tell mom we miss her and love her. Your son - Clint
