Thomas Edward Clabby

Former Lemon Grove City Councilman Thomas Edward Clabby passed away January 22 in the presence of family. He was dearly loved. He and his wife Dona graduated from Hoover High in 1952. He was a Korean War Veteran. Tom worked at Rohr Industries for 40 years, retiring in 1992.
Tom served on the Lemon Grove City Council for 14 years (1994-2008) after serving on the city's Planning Commission. He was the council's representative on the Metropolitan Transit Service for 12 years.
Throughout his life, Tom was an active community volunteer from coaching early Little League as a young father to serving on the first Senior Lemon Grove Volunteer Patrol. As a Rotary Club member, he worked on Old Time Days, Paint Lemon Grove, Plant Lemon Grove and Paint Downtown.
Tom was a driving force on the design and building of Civic Center Park (renamed Treganza Heritage Park).
He was instrumental in the city's acquisition and moving of the H. Lee House to Treganza Heritage Park. He was a key volunteer on the adaptive reuse of the city's first church (1897) as the Parsonage Museum of Lemon Grove and the Lee House as the cultural center. He was a Life member of the Lemon Grove Historical Society and the Friends of the Lemon Grove Library.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife Dona of 70 years, daughters Tommie, Tammy and son Rick; granddaughters Michelle (Justin Lewis), Tylar and Fionna; grandsons Christopher, Ryan and Travis; great-grandchildren Thomas, James and Margot Lewis.
Celebration of Life for Tom will be held at the H. Lee House at Treganza Park, Lemon Grove, on June 17 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
