Anthony Vallone

Anthony "Tony" Vallone, 87, of Shell Beach died peacefully Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at home. Anthony, known to many as Tony, was born in June 1923 in Colorado to Salvatore and Catherine Vallone. He grew up in Lincoln Heights and Los Angeles, Calif., and attended Lincoln High School - he was the head yell leader. Tony met his bride-to-be, Dorothy Palmer, while attending Lincoln High School. He fought in World War II and returned safely. He was a proud graduate of USC with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, and worked as an Engineer for General Dynamics for over 25 years. Tony married Dorothy Palmer Vallone on November 27, 1942, in Los Angeles - they lived in the West End for 15 years. Tony and Dorothy moved to Shell Beach in the late 70s, where they lived out the rest of their lives. The couple had celebrated their 50th Anniversary in November 1992, and Dorothy passed in 1999. Tony loved and played sports throughout his life. He was a devoted member of St. Paul''s Apostle Church, where he was a choir member and a Knight of Columbus. His love, wisdom and strength will live on in all of us! He will be missed! Tony is survived by his daughters Carol Church, Dori Vallone and Catherine Huff; Carol''s children Douglas McClure and Kristi McClure, and Catherine''s children Jessi Huff and Anna Lisa Huff; and great-grandchildren Lilly and Ian McClure. A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011, at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church, 800 Bello St. in Pismo Beach, with burial to follow. A reception will follow the burial service at the Parish Hall of St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church.
