Carolyn Sue Del Rio
Carolyn Sue Del Rio was born in Santa Maria in November 1933 to Jesse James and Florence Wells, and passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at her home in San Luis Obispo. She will be missed by all for her good cooking and annual enchilada fundraiser for the Women of the Moose Lodge. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 58 years, Frank Del Rio; daughter, Debra Zavala (Ernie); son, Robert Del Rio (Karen); grandchildren Gabriel (Stephanie), Garrett (Erika) and Jennifer (Ryan); great-grandchildren Veda, Trevor, Shelby, Kingston and Gracie; sister, Marge McCallister; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death her her parents and seven siblings. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at the Reis Family Mortuary Chapel, 991 Nipomo in San Luis Obispo. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at the Los Osos Valley Memorial Park in Los Osos, with a reception to follow at the Eagles Lodge, 3650 S. Higuera in San Luis Obispo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Cancer Society, Hospice Partners of the Central Coast or a charity of your choice. I worked with carolyn at trw and she was such a wonderful person to talk to. She was a wonderful cook and I especially enjoyed her mandarin orange cake she made for special ocassions at work. My condolences to her family.

I never make enchiladas without thinking of Carolyn. Those fundraisers were a lot of work but tons of fun with Carolyn overseeing it all. My heart goes out to you Frank, and your family. We will all miss her greatly.
