Dorothy Adams Obituary

Dorothy "Dot" Adams was born in San Francisco, Calif., in October 1921, and died Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Sierra Vista Hospital in San Luis Obispo, surrounded by her loving family. Dot spent her early years in San Francisco and then moved to Anoka, Minn., where she grew up. She graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota, where she stayed to teach. She married Richard W. Adams in 1946 and they lived in Minnesota, Seattle, Wash., Southern California, then retired to Los Osos on the Central Coast in the 1980s. Dot was an avid reader, music lover and bridge player and was a volunteer for Hospice and the Morro Bay Natural History Museum. She was active in her church and a member of the PEO for 61 years. She also loved spending time with her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dot is survived by sons Richard and Michael (Darcy) of Atascadero; daughter, Laurel Adams (Ron) Viola of Los Osos; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Smith (Mac) Douglass of Connecticut; and sister-in-law, Sally Adams Winland of Pennsylvania. A memorial service and burial took place at Los Osos Valley Memorial Park Friday, June 19, 2009.
