I knew Jared. He loved eating chocolate covered cherries, occasionally pulling fire alarms, surfing and baseball. What a great kid! This is a tough loss for all who knew him. I know this post is late, but Jared has been in my thoughts lately and I wanted to express my condolences to his wonderful family.
Peace.

I first met your son when I was servicing your pool several years ago and he was such a bright young man with a beautiful smile. I got to know him over a period of time and we would talk and he would always encourage me. I was very impressed with what a fine young man he was. Although I don't golf, we had some friends in common that spoke "he could have been a pro golfer" and they liked him so much that they would always want him on their team. When I met the both of you and we talked about the love you had for your son, I always thought he was blessed to have such loving parents. He will be missed and the family will always be in our prayers.

The world is a little dimmer, a little less kind and missing a little sparkle without Jared in it. I am sad I couldn't be there Saturday to hug the Meeks and pay my respects in person but I did think about him a lot that day. Our templeton family lost one of our bright spots.

Jared was a fun, friendly, and nice guy. He was truly and sincerely that nice and good. My sons met him in middle school and their friendships continued on through high school and beyond. Golf was a big thing, school dances, having fun. This whole group of nice people, boys and girls, really enjoyed their young lives together and Jared was a central, main part of that. His smile....who can top that?

My deepest condolences go out to the Meek family.
Jared was able to get me started on my own recovery in 2014 (when no one else could) and for that I will forever be grateful. It's not a stretch at all to say he saved my life.
Rest in peace Jared and thank you so much...

I'll always remember Jared as the young lefty on our baseball team who's smooth swing would send the ball soaring down the right field line. But he was more than that. He was a hard working, gracious, and kind person. And although it had been years since seeing him, whenever I think of some of those moments that made my youth special, Jared is in them. I'm thankful to have known Jared.

When I heard about Jared's passing my heart immediately sank. He was such a kind person to everyone. I can't remember when we met as we grew up together. But I do remember his laugh (giggle), his smile and his kind spirit. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone. He was smart, athletically talented and could have let that go to his head, but he was always humble. He'll be dearly missed. My heart and prayers go out to the Meek family and his many friends. May you be comforted in knowing that his struggle is over and that he has made only positive impacts on other's lives while he was here. Much love to you all.

Thank you Jared for your shining light and life.

I didnt know Jared but Thank You for being so honest and sharing his story with us. After reading it I am moved to tears and hope that by your sharing and honesty at least one child can be saved and no other family has to go through this. The trials and tribulations that not only Jared but for his family and friends, must have gone through.
If Love could cure our troubles in this journey called life, I believe it would have in this case! I lost a sister to an overdose 20 years ago. At that time it was an embarrassment for the family to talk about. Hug your Loved ones...For nobody knows what tomorrow holds!

Handsome boy, just thinking about that infectious smile makes my heart squeeze. I know how kind you've been, too. You did it quietly, naturally, without the need for recognition or praise-- just like your amazing parents. May you smile down on them every day!

Jared, I am blessed to be included in your life's story. Often painful but also filled with determination, hope and love. Your beautiful smile would instantly lift me. From my selfish eyes, your time here was much too short. I choose to remember you in your joyful spirit, one now free and filled with eternal peace

No words to express the loss, just memories. A couple of mine upon meeting Jared...wondering how to introduce him to our daughter who lived 1,000 miles away and noticing his easy and traditional somewhat bow-legged athletic gait. We can all learn from his courage.

I do not know Jared either, but as someone else so eloquently said, this tribute is beautiful and I am sure oh so hard to have written. It caught my eye as I have a grandson caught in the world of mental illness and drug abuse. My heart goes out to all of you.
