Eric McCutcheon Palmer
Eric McCutcheon Palmer, 33, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013. Eric was born in June of 1979 in Santa Barbara to Greg and Ginny Palmer. He spent many happy days in Santa Barbara; Aspen, Colo.; and here on the Central Coast. He loved nature, animals, a good party and most of all his dear friends and family, whom he treasured and respected so much. His Bernese Mountain Dog, Basel, was the love of his life and gave him so much joy. Eric was a handsome, smart, creative, irreverently funny and most of all the kindest, most loving young man you could hope to meet. Eric leaves behind his adoring family, including his parents; brother, Nathaniel (Heather); nephew, Nathaniel; niece, Amelia; many beloved cousins, aunts and uncles; and a very special grandmother, Virginia, who always stood by him unconditionally. A celebration of Eric's life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at a family ranch in Creston. For details, please email Dianne at [email protected] Casual attire is welcome as this is a ranch, (ladies, no stilettos) and if you are of Scottish descent feel free to wear your clan tartan. Eric, we will love you forever and beyond, dear soul, and will keep your spirit close in our hearts into eternity, when we meet again. You have touched the lives of many people with your remarkable wisdom. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite animal charity; or the Gryphon Society, 1825 San Ramon Road, Atascadero, CA 93422.

Eric was a bit older than me and I looked up to him. He treated me like a little brother and we all loved him. We still reminisce on our time with him with glad hearts. We used to talk about history and about Scotland Eric is a unique soul. We had something in common, a kind of pain we always held underneath. It was something that went unspoken, but we understood each other without having to talk. That’s something I liked about being around him, we didn’t have to talk, we could just relax. He was protective, just like my older bro. He has a good spirit. God made him for more, just as he did all of us, but this is a fallen world we live in, and Eric struggled with that just as I do. I love him and I miss him. I miss hanging out and feeling that calm gentle spirit there with me. Sometimes I doubt, but in my heart I truly know there is more for us beyond this first life. And he is there with my brother Stephen , and with Nikki and Jesse. They didn’t get a full life, but now they will be with the very one who is life. He is love and light, there is no darkness in Him. They will get to see Him as He is, and so they will be like a Him. I don’t know you Greg and Ginny but I love you with all my heart.

Dear Greg and Ginny,
My deepest sympathy to you and your family at this very sorrowful time for you all. Eric had your love and was LOVED. May your tears turn to smiles with time as you remember your son. Our dogs have connected us as neighbors. I have Sydney, the black Australian Shepherd, who looks like Basel's cousin. Please know that you both and Basel too are in my prayers.

To Eric's parents I give you my condolences. I walk my dog around Creston and occasionally would run into Eric and his big dog...mine is a chihuahua. We would walk quietly together. He was like my son who is 31, born in Santa Barbara and has difficulties. I feel so badly that I won't be able to walk with him again.
