Floyd Lee Obituary

Floyd R. Lee Jr., born April 7th, 1940, in Bakersfield, California, passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side, June 18th, 2025. Spending the last 40 years in San Luis Obispo, CA., he felt at home in the place where he married and became a father. He was known as "Papa" to his grandchildren and their friends, and he loved family fiercely. He is survived by his daughter Rebecca (Becky) Roth, her husband Michael, and three grandchildren, Adam, Alex, and Amy Roth. Additionally, he leaves behind several nieces and nephews he talked about often and enjoyed spending time with when the occasion arose. He especially enjoyed traveling with his great-nephew Shawn Olsen, who shared his love for travel!

Floyd spent his early years serving in the U.S. Army, eventually retiring as a Sergeant. He specialized in Military Communications and earned a Silver Service Star for his dedication and service during the Vietnam War. His military career seemed to spark his love for travel as he and his family lived in Thailand and then Germany for several years, before settling in the United States. He continued to travel until recently, a thought that brings his daughter comfort.

Floyd will be interred with his daughter, Gretchen Ruth, who died at birth. Together forever at the Los Osos Valley Memorial Park, where a memorial bench will be placed. If you are in the area, don't hesitate to swing by and have a seat. He would love that, and on a clear day, you can see Morro Rock!

A small memorial will be held when the family can be together. We appreciate all those who made his life better! We are at peace knowing he is in a better place, surrounded by love.

If there is a desire to do something, a small donation can be made to the Atascadero United Methodist Church at 11605 El Camino Real, Atascadero, CA. 93422.
