John Bafford Obituary

John Bafford passed away peacefully Friday, May 3, 2013, in Vancouver, Wash., with his son, Chris by his side.  John was born to Albert and Berniece Bafford in 1940 in Santa Paula, Calif., and grew up in Ventura County, where he attended school and graduated from Ventura Senior High School. After high school, John moved to Morro Bay for a time. He relocated to Southern California and started a career as a long haul truck driver. Eventually he relocated with his family to Vancouver. John traveled many happy miles on the road. When his truck driving career ended he returned to Morro Bay and renewed old friendships. He joined the Morro Bay Eagles and met and made many new friends. John's enjoyment of singing led him to Karoke at the Otter Rock in Morro Bay, where he was an enthusiastic participant. He volunteered at the Morro Bay Chamber of Commerece, a perfect job for John since he thrived on conversation with anyone and never met a stranger. John was loved by many and he will be greatly missed. John is survived by his son, Chris Bafford (Kiersta); daughter, Traci Bafford, both of Vancouver; brother, Charles of San Antonio, Texas; sisters Dolores Butterfield of Morro Bay; Sharon Borden (Jerry) of San Jose, Calif.,; and Linda Beardsley (Don) of Morro Bay; several nieces and nephews; dear friend, Jane Hall; and many fiends. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Berniece; and niece Jodie. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the Morro Bay Eagles Lodge, 2988 Main St., in Morro Bay. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donation be made to Hospice.

John, you old, cantankerous mule you! God I loved the guy. He was personally responsible for saving at least 1,000 people from getting DUIs in Morro Bay when he started driving people home from the bars. But it wasn't just that, he helped anyone who needed it, be it for a ride to a doctor's appointment, take you shopping if you needed it, or in my case a ride to the DMV to get my suspended license back.
He had a great sense of humor and was my friend. I will miss you John.
