Kevin O'Connor Obituary

Kevin O'Connor 1954 - 2019 Heaven gained a new star on October 22, 2019, when Kevin O'Connor's earthly light dimmed and his heavenly light was illuminated. John Kevin O'Connor was born in 1954 in E. St. Louis, Illinois and left this world in Redwood City, California. He was a gifted photographer, designer and color management specialist who expertly used light and color to inform and enhance his art. Predeceased by his parents, Gene and Ruth O'Connor, and his sister Betsy, he is survived by his brothers, Pat, Chris (Marilyn) and Dan, and his sister, Kate (Mike), as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and a legion of friends. Kevin found beauty in so many things, and generously shared them with his family and friends. Please think of him when you gaze at a jaw-dropping sunset or the smile on a child's face. She would have loved to capture those images for you to remember forever. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, December 6, 2019 at the Old Mission in San Luis Obispo, followed by a rousing celebration of his life. If you wish to honor Kevin with a memorial donation, please consider the American Heart Association. Remembrances may be left at legacy.com.

Ugh. I just found out when the Christmas card we sent him was returned to sender. Somehow, last year's went through.

Kevin and I worked together intermittently. I met him many years ago at MacWorld Expo—we were both presenting. He was absolutely amazing at helping people understand how to print accurate color under any circumstances. He was also a talented photographer.

I'm shocked. Kevin and I were co-workers at EFI, he in CA and me in ATL, GA. We became good friends during that time, and would get together as our lives would intersect. We'd also contact each other every month or so. When I didn't hear from him at Thanksgiving, I figured he was travelling, but then nothing at Christmas or New Years, I became concerned. I looked him up on line and came across this devastating news. Rest well good friend and fellow pilgrim. My deepest condolences to all his family.

Kevin has been a dear friend since we met him in 1967. My Mom taught him when he was in 8th grade. What a man with wisdom, humor, and love! While he was so ill, he worried about my Mom, who passed on October 30th. I imagine the two of them having one heck of a party up in Heaven. My deep condolences to his family.

I hadn't seen Kevin since our last days at Mission in 1970, but we reconnected via FB about 10 years ago. What was so unexpected was Kevin coming to my mom's service back in March 2015. Although our time together was limited, I realized what a sweet guy he truly was after so many years that had passed. Although he joked that he had seen so many countries, but never visited Hawaii, he was hoping to get here. Will be sending a lei of aloha in our connected Pacific Ocean on the day of his service. A hui hou, sweet Kevin! (Till we meet again!). XXOO

Kevin has a special spot in my memory... As a young mother sitting in church with 3 small children climbing all over...Kevin..Whom I have known since college at the El Corral Bookstore...leans over to me and says.. " There is a special place in heaven for moms like you"..This has stuck with me forever and I tell others the same sentiment.. RIP dear Kevin... YOU ARE ONE OF A KIND!

Sweet, lovable Kevin, I was so saddened to hear of your passing. I hope that your family will take comfort of knowing that you will always be as near as a thought and are among other loved ones, among them my husband Steve & Steve's mom & dad. I met Kevin through Steve, who had gone to Mission with him. We had many, but never enough, happy times with him. I especially remember a brunch out in Baywood Park where he was house sitting. And what a photographer he was! I'll miss his hugs.
