Marjorie Juel Obituary

San Luis Obispo, California - Marjorie Ann Henry Juel was born in Traer, Iowa on January 14, 1926, to Robert and Fannye (Hayden) Henry. After high school, she served the War effort by working for the F.C.C. in Omaha, NE recording International Code. Marj earned her BA in Vocal Music from Iowa State Teachers College, graduating with her high school sweetheart, Ariel Juel, a Navy Veteran, in 1949. They married in 1950 and settled in Humboldt, IA. She taught music for 16 years before they moved to CA in 1964. Marjorie taught elementary music for Cambrian School Dist. in San Jose, then kindergarten, for many years, before returning to music, retiring in 1990. She directed church choirs for many years. Marj moved to San Luis Obispo in 2012. She will be lovingly remembered for her beautiful soprano voice, her upbeat resilient spirit, warmth and generosity. Marjorie passed away on Nov 24 in SLO County, CA. She is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and beloved dog, Dolly. She is survived by daughters Paula Crabb (Eric) of NJ, Linda Buzgheia (Hossam) Sacramento, Teresa Scott (Mitch) Templeton, and 7 grandchildren. Marjorie's "Celebration of Life" is at 1pm on Sat, Jan 13, San Luis Obispo United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the SLO UMC Music Ministry or Woods Humane Society of San Luis Obispo.
