Michael Muth Obituary

Michael Dennis "Mick" Muth of Creston, passed away Thursday Feb. 20, 2014, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in September 1947 in Madison South Dakota to Harold and Vera Muth and spent his early childhood on the farm with his three sisters, Janice, Carol and Linda, until the family moved to Whittier, Calif. in 1956. Mick graduated from California High in 1965 and married his high school sweetheart Susan Douglas in 1966; they were blessed with son Denny and daughter Shannon. He married Jan Ross in1990 and they resided in Orange, Calif. He moved to the Central Coast in 1999, bought 25 acres in Creston and his son designed his house which he built in 2003. He had great career as a machinist all his life and was employed at Strasbaugh in San Luis Obispo. Mick was blessed with two grandsons Jake and Jesse and one granddaughter Reese. He was such a strong but gentle man and was admired by his entire family and all of his many friends. He was an avid outdoor sportsman which he shared with all his family and friends. Mick is survived by son Denny Muth (Brandi); daughter Shannon Barnett (Russel); grandsons Jake and Jesse; granddaughter Reese; companion and love of his life Rhoda Gustafson; sisters Janice Wells, Carol Wood (Elmo); Linda Coss (Terry); many nephews and nieces; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents; father Harold; mother Vera; and wife Jan. We all are comforted in the knowledge that he is in heaven with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

We do send our deepest sympathy to the Muth family. I do have such good memories of spending time at the Harold & Vera Muth farm in South Dakota in the 50's. A great family. Love, Judy (Jacobson) & Ken Scott

Steve and Deb Muth

Dear Shannon and Denny ~ I am not sure if we are related or not, but we might be. My husband Steve Muth was born in Iowa and lived in Sioux Falls most of his early life. His Father and Mother were Wayne and Ruth Muth and his stepmother Lois.
His cousins lived around the NW corner of Iowa and I remember talking with an older cousin named Vera Muth at a funeral of either Wayne or Vint Muth. Do any of these people sound familiar to you?
My husband Steve and your father Mick look very much alike and could pass for brothers. Steve was born in 1948. We now live in Red Lodge, Montana. I am sorry for your loss, Mick sounded like a very nice man. ~ Deb Muth

Denny and Shannon, I'm very sorry for the loss of your wonderful dad. I only got to meet your dad once, but have heard many wonderful stories about him. I know he was a gentle man and loved his children and grandchildren so very much. He will be missed by many. I'm a very close friend of Rhoda's. Your dad is in the peaceful arms of the Lord. I pray once you have grieved, that the happy memories will fill your heart.

Shannon and Denny
We are so sorry for your loss. Dale & I had the pleasure of knowing your Dad through your Aunt Linda and Uncle Terry who are very dear friends of ours. Your Dad was such a wonderful man and he was so proud of you and his grand kids. May all the wonderful memories you have of him help you get throughout this difficult time. He is now at peace and in God's hands.
Love,
Mary & Dale Booth
