Mitsi Doi

Mitsi Doi Humie "Mitsi" Doi, 93, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at home surrounded by family. Mitsi was born in March, 1922 near Hilo, Hawaii where she lived until she was twelve, when she was adopted by close family friends who had no children. She grew up in Okinawa, Japan. She met Frank Doi while working for the army as a translator when Frank was in the army after the Second World War. They were married and Frank with his new bride returned to Idaho where he was a farmer in Parma. Mitsi was a farmer's wife working hard in the fields and raising three children. She had a giving nature; always putting her family's needs and wants first. She moved to Grover Beach after her husband Frank passed away, in order to live with her daughter and her husband. Mitsi is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Doi, and daughter, Nancy Doi. She is survived by her children, Ron and Jean Kikuchi of Grover Beach and Gary Doi of Parma, Idaho; grandchildren: Todd and Michelle (Kikuchi) Akey of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Craig Kikuchi of Arroyo Grande, Kerry Kikuchi of Chandler, Arizona, and Katie Doi of Tacoma, Washington; and four great-grandchildren: Ariana and Carson Akey and Kaitlyn and Collin Kikuchi.
