Rhonda Dutra Obituary

Rhonda Dutra
April 30, 1954 - January 15, 2022
San Luis Obispo, California - Rhonda Dutra was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 15, 2022. She passed away in San Luis Obispo under the care of hospice after many years of health challenges. She was 67 years old.
Rhonda is survived by her daughter, Tammi Ameli and her husband Jesse, along with her 5 grandchildren, Zackary, Isabel, Riley, Kayla, and Brett and her 2 great-grand children, Phoenix and Ryder, as well as her sister Debbie Mitchell, her nieces Ellen Mitchell Daly (Ted), Lisa Mankins (Robert), Cathy Hefner and her nephew Ken Hefner (Teresa). She was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanette White, her father, Wayne D White, her sister Vicki Strahl, her husband George Dutra Jr and her son Ryan Dutra.
Rhonda was born April 30,1954 in Topeka, Kansas. In 1964, her family moved to Fresno, CA and finally settled in Arroyo Grande in 1967. Rhonda graduated Arroyo Grande High School in 1972 and married the love of her life, George on November 10 that same year. They were married 47 years. Rhonda had numerous jobs throughout her life, but more recently she worked at Arroyo Grande Hospital in the business office and ER Registration. She was also a real estate agent selling homes in the area with her Kansas motto and hospitality of "There's No Place Like Home." Being from Kansas, Rhonda loved the Kansas City Chief's and she was so excited to see them win the Super Bowl in 2020! Rhonda was also an avid and very talented quilter! She made each of her grandkids a quilt when they were born and loved quilting so much that her husband George built her a quilting table. She was making and repairing quilts up until her health challenges began in 2015. She also enjoyed golfing with her husband and they had many friendly competitions over the years. Their favorite place to vacation was Cambria and they would spend many weekends away enjoying the antique stores, relaxing by the ocean, playing board games, and cooking up lobster.
Most of all, Rhonda loved spending time with her grandkids. She enjoyed celebrating their birthday's, having sleepovers with them, teaching her oldest grand daughter Isabel how to knit, and she would often drive down in her VW Bug to see her daughter and grandkids in Southern California. When her health challenges began and she was unable to drive, that didn't stop her - she would take the train to see them! She was very blessed to be able to see her 2 great- grandkids in the end and her face would light up every time they came to visit.
Rhonda battled many health challenges in the end of her life, but throughout the years, after multiple surgeries, physical therapy, and numerous doctor appointments, she never complained. She persevered and remained very strong willed and fought until the very end. Rhonda leaves behind a legacy as a dedicated wife, mother, sister and grandma. Even though we know we will see her again in heaven one day soon, she will be greatly missed until that day comes.
Arrangements are being made with Marshall-Spoo Funeral Chapel and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Central Coast Hospice in her memory

My deepest and sincerest condolences to Rhonda´s loved ones. I´m just hearing of this news and although deeply saddened I know she´s in a beautiful place as she was on earth. I worked with Rhonda at AG hospital on the night and day shifts. We were a good team and had so much fun; especially on night shift. I visited her home and was greeted with highest hospitality and was in awe of her talent in decorating and her quilting. I witnessed her strong Will of positivity when she fell ill.As mentioned I. Obituary, she would not complain and would always mention her dear George. She was my friend and is missed dearly.
I hope the family is finding peace and acceptance in knowing she is resting in peace. Sincerely, Murle
