Rollin Crane Obituary

October 1943 ~ June 2008

Rollin Boyd Crane, 64, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2008, at his home in Madera, Calif.

Rollin attended Atascadero High School before he entered the U.S. Navy. He eventually held a career as a water/wastewater engineer.

He had a passion for life, music, history, poetry, race cars, football, camping, fishing, motorcycles and his family. He was a member of the Corvette Club and enjoyed traveling the countryside in his Corvette.

Rollin's adventurous side took him to many places and a story was always waiting to be told. Those that were fortunate enough to have been touched in some way by his life will have loving memories and many stories to be passed down of this proud, funny, adventurous, caring man.

A loving husband, father, and brother, he was survived by his wife, Susan Cielo of Fresno; beloved beagle, Snoopy; stepdaughters Amber Cielo of Fresno, Debbie Gough of Atacadero and Tammy Lapthorne of Janesville, Calif; daughters Cheryl Roberts of Atascadero and Linda Riggs of Manteo, N.C.; grandsons Brandon Roberts, Jonathan Rushing, Nicholas Lapthorne and Weston Hooton; and granddaughters Jessica and Jocelyn Lapthorne and Cassandra Gough.

He was also survived by sisters Betty Owenby of Madera and Barbara Whipple of Richmond, Calif.; and brother, Bob Crane of Walnut Creek.

Rollin was preceded in death by his parents Hazel and Robert Crane; brother-in-law, Gaston Owenby; and daughter, Nicole.

A memorial service will be held soon.
