Ronald Duncan Obituary

Ronald D. Duncan,51, of Atascadero died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, in San Luis Obispo.

Ron died as the result of a motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon on his way home from the Toys for Tots Annual Christmas Ride - an event Ron, his wife Carol, and daughter Veronica have participated in for many years.

Ron was passionate about his motorcycles and took advantage of every opportunity to ride with his motorcycle brothers at his side. Ron also thoroughly enjoyed flying his airplanes. He talked about how much he loved the freedom of flying, and how happy he was avoiding the traffic of the freeways below him. Ron was the owner and operator of his own business, Duncan Engineering. Ron was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War. Ron was larger than life through his loud voice, his known presence, and loving heart. He will be truly missed by so many.

Ron is survived by his wife, Carol Callahan Duncan; their daughter, Veronica, age 10; Ron's three other daughters Holly, Amber, and Harmony Duncan; step-son, Nathaniel Woodall all of Atascadero; brothers Frank of Atascadero, Doug and Robert of Incline Village, Nev.; and sister, Kim Cowne of Sonora, Calif.; four grandchildren Levi, Lilly, Sterling and Jayden.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Brown Jr. He also lost his mother, Lela Birkshire in December 2006.

Ron is survived by his 93 year old grandmother, Lela Casad, whom has recently come to Atascadero to stay with Ron and Carol, giving Ron the good fortune of spending the last few weeks with her.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at Chapel of the Roses Mortuary in Atascadero.

A funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Chapel of the Roses, followed by a celebration of life at the family residence.

Donations preferred to AOPA Air Safety Foundation, 421 Aviation Way, Frederick, MD 21701.

As our brother is now part of the great cloud of witnesses, may God extend to his family His grace. How sad it is to lose a brother so tragically. Yet, we know that God has welcomed him home. So as much as we can, we celebrate Ron's coronation. He has completed the ride and now rides on the wings of the wind. God bless from a member of Sonlight Warriors.

A BIKERS HEAVEN!

Lord, I'm not sure you let bikers into heaven
but I hope you do,
I don't know too much about politics or religion
but I do know we are your children, too.

So, when I make that final ride
and you go to prepare me a place,
Just let it be ridin' my Harley in heaven
with the wind blowin' across my face.

My vision of heaven is a place
with lots of green grass, trees, and a wide open highway,
Where once again I'll be ridin'
beside my biker brothers and sisters everyday.

Lord, take care of my family, friends,
and fellow bikers here on earth,
Just the way you did me
from the time my Mother gave birth.

Although I'm going to miss all those runs I made
and the places I went,
I just pray that when we meet,
you will tell me my time on earth was well spent.

And hopefully someday, folks will stop judging a biker
because of what they wear or they way they look,
Let them remember your words,
"Judge not and be not Judged", which you wrote in your book.

your in our prayers!
my deepest condolences...
