Thomas Tidyman

Los Osos, California - Tom Tidyman passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family on March 22nd at Casa de Flores, an assisted living facility, in Morro Bay at the age of 77. He was a resident of Los Osos, California. Tom was born in Fresno, California, on April 19th, 1947, to Fred and Margaret Tidyman.

Tom graduated from Fresno High School and earned a Bachelor's degree from Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo in Industrial Technology; for his senior project, he developed plans for an automobile regenerative braking system. He later spent a year in England building race cars for Lotus and touring Europe on the Formula One circuit. Afterward he traveled to Australia and taught high school art and wood shop in Melbourne for several years before returning to Fresno. There, he taught photography at Computech Middle School until he retired.

Tom was a skilled painter and photographer. He was also an avid sailor. He was an active member of the Morro Bay Yacht Club, and sailed from California to Hawaii in the Transpac and Pacific Cup races.

Tom was happily married to Martha (Marty) Oneal until her passing in 2022. He is survived by his brothers Mark Tidyman, of Oakland; Jim Tidyman and his wife Mohini of Broadbeach, Australia; his stepdaughter, Jennifer Hall, of Fresno; and his sister-in-law, Chris Freier, of Los Osos, who was his primary caretaker in his last few years.

A memorial service will be held at the community room of Daisy Hill Mobile Home Park, Los Osos, California; date to be determined.
