Tom Martin Obituary

2001.

Tom was a fun-loving man. Tom loved the ocean and was an avid sailor. International sporting events were his personal passions. Tom was a wonderful and involved father and a loyal friend to many.

Tom's giving nature has been felt throughout San Luis Obispo County and beyond. A few organizations that he was actively involved in are the Cuesta College North County Campus, San Luis Obispo Women's Shelter and the Old Mission School. He and his wife, Noreen, were instrumental in the creation of a fun learning experience for children in Paso Robles. One of his final wishes was to see the completion of the Paso Robles Children's Museum at the Volunteer Fire House.

Tom is survived by a large, loving family, including his wife, Noreen; daughters, Laura Sherlock, Julie Martin and Meghan Martin; sons-in-law, John Sherlock and Don Westfall; brother, Dominic Martin; sisters, Mary Weyrich and Annie Bowler; sister-in-law, Kate Martin; brothers-in-law, David Weyrich and John Bowler; grandchildren, Riley and Mace Sherlock and Wyatt and Charlie Westfall; aunts, Julie Dembo and Dorothy Martin; uncle, John McFarlane; and many cousins nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Florence Martin; sisters, Nanette and Patty Kay; and Patty Martin, mother of Laura and Julie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Paso Robles Children's Museum, P.O. Box 2526, Paso Robles, CA 93447.

I met Tom during those fun filled and joyous years fishing and enjoying Martin Vineyards wines in Rancho Buena Vista ( Cabo).

We all looked up to Tom as he was a quiet strength.

He is still missed and remembered with great fondness.

Dear Noreen, Meghan and family,

Our hearts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Sandy and I are happy to have had the joy of knowing Tom and you and sharing dinner at your home and on other happy occassions.

I was particularly glad that I got to spend some quality time with Tom at the 24th annual "Fish Off" at Rancho Buena Vista.

Tom left a remakable legacy. One of love, admiration, friendship and joy to all those who were fortunate to know him. It didn't take much for Tom to be happy . . . a pair of shorts and an old tee shirt. May the passing of time ease your burden and the memories grow in fondness.

with sincere condolences,

Norm and Sandy Epstein
