Vera Harmon Obituary

Vera E. Harmon, 89, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at the Vineyard Hills Care Center. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Paso Robles Cemetery. She was born Dec. 5, 1913, in Sherman, Okla. to a family of 14 brothers and sisters. Vera married Milton E. Harmon on her birthday, in 1931. They came to California in 1936, and they lived in Creston for six years. They finally settled in Atascadero in 1958, after several moves. They owned Milt's Cocktail Lounge for several years. Vera and Milt were avid bowlers for many years, and Vera was still bowling at the age of 88. She was an active member of the Women's Moose Lodge of Atascadero, the Nazarene Church of Atascadero, and an Elkette of the Paso Robles Elk's Lodge. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards with her many friends. She is survived by her son Kay Harmon; daughter-in-law Janet Robinson of Atascadero; daughters and son-in-laws, Peggy and James McGregor of Sutherlin, Ore. and Judy and Bill Weatherwax of Paso Robles; grandson Todd Weatherwax of Paso Robles; granddaughter Nichole Phillips; great-granddaughter Kaileigh Phillips of Bakersfield; brothers, Cecil, Frances, Virgil and Melvin Buttel; sister Lula Henderson; brother-in-laws, Daryl Harmon, Floyd Tidd, Ray Estrada, and David Schmedeke; sister-in-laws, Trula Buttel, Pauline Buttel, Grace Stanford, Mable Boerner, and Betty Jo Schmedeke; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Milton E. Harmon in 1980; and son Duane in 1950. Please donate to your favorite charity in memory of Vera E. Harmon. Arrangements are under the direction of Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home of Paso Robles.
