Adalberto Perez

1933 - 2022

Adalberto Our beloved husband and father, Adalberto "Jackie" Perez, age 89, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 16, 1933, in Falfurrias, Texas to Dorotéo and Petra Pérez.

Jackie was a devout Catholic and was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, volunteering in many capacities. He enthusiastically served his country and his community throughout his life including service in the U.S. Army; membership and president for the Falfurrias School Board; service as a Falfurrias City Councilman; membership in the Knights of Columbus and the Mutualistas; and founding member of the Mr. & Mrs. Social Club, among many others.

In 1954, he married the love of his life, Soila Vela. They would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary later this year. Jackie was a wonderful and caring father and example to his six devoted daughters, Criselda P. Vasquez (Gilbert), Mariselda P. Morales (Rene), Selma S. Selvera (Rick), Ana Lisa Garza (Mario), Leslie P. Saucedo (Mike), and Liana P. Pérez (Manuel).

Jackie was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Jesus Pérez, Domingo Pérez, Trinidad Pérez, Lucia De Leon, Gelacio Pérez, Natividad Pérez, Petra Rodriguez, Ysidoro Pérez, and Manuel Pérez. He is survived by his wife and daughters. He is also survived by his granddaughters Andrea Reveles (Nick), Jerri Lynn Zapata (Joe), Laura Prewitt (Josh), Sonya Gutierrez (Joseph), Elisa Vasquez (Emmie), and Miranda Pérez, as well as his only grandson, Christopher Pérez. Jackie is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will include visitation at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Alaniz Funeral Home in Falfurrias, Texas, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, March 28, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Falfurrias, Texas.

Pallbearers include his sons-in law: Gilbert Vasquez, Rene Morales, Rick Selvera, Mario Garza, Mike Saucedo, and Manuel Pérez. The honorary pallbearer will include Christopher Pérez.
