Barry B. Schmick

1943 - 2025

Barry B. Schmick was born on March 2, 1943 in Beacon, New York to Richard and Olga Tremper Schmick. He passed away on March 9, 2025 at his home in San Marcos, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lois Gastinger Schmick, son Luke Jon and his wife Alexandra Schmick; grandsons Owen and Michael. He is also survived by his brother Richard T. Schmick, a niece and numerous nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Ann Gastinger Kissling.

Barry earned a Bachelor of Arts from Texas State University. In his professional life, he was a Police Officer with the Jerome, Arizona PD. He became an owner/operator for North American Van Lines and later opened BMA Window Cleaning in San Marcos.

Barry loved to travel. He spent time in California, Arizona and settled in Texas. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed gardening, camping, kayaking, and salt water fishing. Music also played a significant role in Barry's life. As an amateur musician, he focused on the harmonica, bass and acoustic guitars. His many travels brought him numerous friends and adventures.
