I remember my first meeting with Carolanne. Carolanne and Art were the parents of Patrick and Scott back then. Kelly and Robin were not yet born. It turned out that Art and I had been in the acapella choir at Southwest Texas State College the same year (before Carolanne´s dad heard me sing and persuaded me to change majors to avoid starvation!).
The Larson family became friends, forever. I loved them as the family was and as it grew. The Larsons lived near the Lake on Trail´s End Road, and the boys often would change into blue jean cutoffs for a cooling swim. They would return home, change and hang their cutoffs on the clothesline to dry, awaiting the next temptation to swim. I was visiting one day when Carolanne showed me one of the boy´s dried cutoffs, which had to be retired from future swims for some weeks. She asked me how long wrens incubated their eggs because a wren had built a nest in the cutoffs and had laid several eggs there! Over the years we maintained a friendship, sharing our affection for kids, birds, other wildlife, dogs, and music. Carolanne was the definition of patience, good will, friendship and forbearance. I will always treasure her friendship and love her children.
