Charles Addison "Chad" Neff III

1948 - 2022

Charles (Chad) Addison Neff III, of San Marcos, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at the age of 73, after a short battle with stage 4 bladder cancer. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janet; son, Charley, his children, Aidan, Ethan, and Lucas, their mother, Jayne Bodmann; daughter, Becky, her children, Natalie, Annabell, and Elijah, their father, Randall Ferrell; and daughter, Melissa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles A. Neff Jr. and Erma Lee Bodine Neff; and his sister, Melinda Hinz.

Chad was born on August 10, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas. His family moved from San Antonio to Beaumont to Austin, where he graduated from Reagan High School. He received a BFA in Studio Art from the University of Texas, and in 1971 he settled in San Marcos. His careers included working as an interior designer (2 yrs), a studio artist (20 yrs), and an internet networking computer tech (29 yrs). Aside from his work, he enjoyed many other interests: Army Security Agency Reservist (16 yrs), Inactive Ready Reserves (8 yrs), SMPD Reserve Officer (13 yrs), Park Ranger, member and past president of the San Marcos Rotary Club, and Boy Scout Leader. His latest and most passionate hobby was in growing beautiful orchids. Chad met so many people through all of his endeavors, and considered everyone he met a friend.

Please join us in a celebration of Chad's life on Thursday, May 19th at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 325 W. McCarty Lane, San Marcos. After the memorial service we will meet in the fellowship hall to visit and share fond memories.
