Jose Mosqueda Obituary

In Loving Memory

Jose Mosqueda, affectionately known as "Joe", was called to his eternal rest on Tuesday, November, 11, 2025. He was a beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend and was surrounded by his family and friends on that final day. Christus Santa Rosa Hospital appeared briefly under siege with the numerous people lining the halls and waiting room.

Joe was a lifelong resident of San Marcos, Texas. He was born with that eternal twinkle in his eye and a dimpled, charming smile that made people instinctively like him. His grandparents Jose and Petra Mosqueda loved him without measure and called him "El Rey". Before Joe would walk, he was already sitting on a saddle and riding a horse with his Grandpa Jose. As a young boy he learned how to rope, jump off his horse and run quickly to complete the tie down maneuver on the goat he had just lassoed. He enjoyed a 70's childhood filled with outdoor activities: riding bikes, playing baseball, and kickball with his brothers and neighborhood friends.

He loved playing pinball, fishing, swimming, and tubing in the San Marcos River. Although he never participated in organized sports he was competitive in any games he played. He approached every day with a happy go lucky attitude, always with a quick smile on his face. Joe was a hard worker all of his life. He was a good man with a caring heart who never met a stranger and could sit down and have a conversation with anyone especially if classic rock

music was on in the background. If you needed help with anything he was always there. He helped others when there was no reward in it for himself.

He loved sports and was an avid San Francisco 49er football fan, he cheered on the Longhorns, the Houston Astros, but the true loves of his life were his 3 children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Felix Mosqueda, his brothers: Lucio Cruz Jr, Gilbert Mosqueda, Felix Mosqueda Jr., and his nephew Johnnie T. Rosales.

He is survived by his loving children: Mark Mosqueda (Vicki), Vanessa Mosqueda, Alexis Mosqueda; his grandchildren: Bryson Garcia, Makayla Garcia, Michael Mosqueda, Emily Mosqueda, Katie and Ali Suarez; his mother Mrs. Ausencia Mosqueda; his siblings: Eddie Cruz, Richard Cruz (Sylvia), Celia Rosales (Johnnie), Jessie Cruz (Esther),Robert Mosqueda, and David (Norma) Mosqueda. His many nieces and nephews will forever cherish memories of "Uncle Joe," who always welcomed them with a smile. Additionally, his cousins and numerous lifelong

friends will miss him greatly.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday, November 19th at 5pm at Los Angeles Funeral Home in San Marcos with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. Morning visitation will be held Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Los Angeles Funeral Home with chapel service and blessing by Deacon Robert Gutierrez at 11 am. All who knew him are invited to join his family at a reception at St. John's Catholic Church parish hall 12:30-3:30 pm. A private Memorial service with interment of ashes will be celebrated at a later date. July 20, 1966 - November 11, 2025
