Maria Olivo Obituary
Mary O, a bright light who touched many lives, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025 at the age of 86, with loved ones by her side. Born on July 5, 1939, to Domingo and Angelita Olivo, Mary O, lived a full life of grace, strength and resilience.
Mary O was a beautiful woman with a big, beautiful heart who always put others first. She was patient and loving, sharing kindness and laughter with everyone she met. Despite the challenges life threw at her, she endured. Mary O would smile. A smile like no other. An optimistic smile would be the best way to describe it in one word. Mary O brought joy wherever she went. She had the tools to do it too. Learning to play the piano as a young girl. From Classical to ragtime, from Mozart to Joplin, Mary O never missed a beat when she was on top of her game. She was a writer and a poet who loved to travel. She saw the world.
Dedicating that knowledge and wisdom to low-income youth. She worked for the Texas education foundation at Gary Job Corp for 30 years where she took on a new name which was simply Mama. Where she received recognition from the Department of labor and City of San Marcos acknowledging her dedication to the youth in America.
Above all, she had a deep love for her three sons, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.
She is survived by: Her three sons: James Flores, Rene Flores, and Jesse Joe Trevino along with her 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: Her Parents, Domingo and Angelita Olivo. Her Sister and brother, Sally Olivo Salazar and Jesse Olivo.
So, whatever name you know her by, we will all miss that optimistic smile.
