Alfred Pinard Obituary
Al was a well accomplished man. He was very outgoing in his community. He began his service right out of high school joining the United States Navy - Sea Bees and fighting during World War II. He graduated from San Jose State leading to his 30 plus years as an educator, including being a counselor at John Muir Jr. High School. All of his students loved him. He was a member of the Elks club and became the Exalted Ruler in 1966. Later Alfred and his wife, Barbara owned and operated Capitola Treasures for many years.
Al's mother, Naomi Purcell Pinard was the first school teacher in San Jose area in a one room school house. She led the way for Al's love of his community. His father, Alfred Joseph Pinard made the first street in San Jose with a steam roller named Billy the Masher.
Alfred had a wonderful sense of humor, and adored his family. He would dazzle his friends and family with humorous stories. Al was a wonderful creative writer as well. He enjoyed baseball an avid Giants fan. His true passion was golf.
Alfred is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Barbara Pinard, his three children Alfred Pinard Jr and his wife Sheryl, Rene Muth and Yvette Dominici and her husband David. His step-children Richard Dunsheath, Lisa Dunsheath-Reyna and Julia McCoun. Grandchildren include Lauren, Evan and Alexandra Pinard, Teddy Muth, Lazara, Athena, Julia, Felicia Dominici Heather Dunsheath, Dayna Jatib and Heavenly Dunsheath-Reyna and three great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 3:00pm at Oakwood Memorial Chapel 3301 Paul Sweet Road Santa Cruz, CA 95065. 831-475-2464. A private interment will be held at a later time.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in Alfred's memory to American Cancer Society or Hospice.

The Celebration will be held at 3 pm, not 2 pm. In leiu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the American Cancer Society or your local non-profit Hospice.
