Anthony Brown Memoriam

In Memory of
Anthony Brown
May 8, 1958 - February 23, 2022
It is with heavy hearts and sadness that the family of Anthony R. Brown announces his passing. Anthony spent his early years growing up in a military family, which provided him with unique opportunities and experiences as the family moved across the country from Florida to California, then Washington state and ultimately, to Eugene, OR. Anthony loved life and the people he met wherever he lived. It was in Eugene, OR where Anthony excelled in sports; he especially loved track and field and was a star athlete for his beloved South Eugene High Axemen track team. It was always said that "Anthony could run like the wind." It was a joy to see him cross the finish line with baton in hand. Anthony also admired and respected his coach, Harry Johnson, who played a big part in his success on and off the field.
Anthony carried that same passion to the track and field when he coached the Santa Cruz High School track team. Anthony touched their lives in a special way, and he was always proud to hear from the team years later in how he played a part in their success and for the fine young people they are today.
From a very young age, Anthony was a bike enthusiast; Anthony loved bikes and could tell you anything about them. He became the owner of a well-known and successful bicycle shop in Santa Cruz, CA. He eventually retired from the bike shop and moved to North Carolina to be with his sisters, where he lived for over three years.
More than anything else, Anthony loved his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Harry Brown, Jr., and his brother, Dexter Williams. Anthony is survived by his son, Aaron Dickey, spouse Caitie and granddaughter-to-be, his sisters Harriett Brown-Reynolds and Karen P. Brown (who is caring for his dog, Diesel), his brother Danny Williams and spouse Eva, and his beloved nephew Steven Anthony Reynolds. He is also survived by his nephew DJ Williams, niece Danielle Belin, and many friends and family.
Anthony's family invites those who knew and loved him to leave words, light a candle or plant a tree in his memory at www.fergusonfs.com/obituary/Anthony-Brown.
