Bernice Crooks passed away Tuesday, April 19 at the age of 96. She was born in Porte Buggianese, Italy to Guilio and Amalia Lenzi. The family arrived in the USA at Ellis Island, New York, on July 4, 1920 and immediately relocated to Tacoma, Washington.
In 1939, she married Willis Herbert Crooks. In 1959, the family moved to California and settled in Santa Cruz County. Bernice was a wonderful cook, gardener, and mother. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Italian Catholic Federation, Capitola, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Crooks and daughter, Diana Jean Crooks.
Bernice is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Sandra and Gerald Prouty of Washington State and Janice Crooks and Bob Jorgensen of Clayton, California; grandchildren Marco Prouty of Washington State and Eric and Sophia Jorgensen of Clayton, California.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 11am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Capitola, California.
