Catherine Christine "Chris" Andrews
April 25, 1951 ~ August 16, 2021
Resident of Boulder Creek
Catherine Christine Andrews, age 70, of Boulder Creek, California, passed away on August 16, 2021. A dynamic woman with an adventurous spirit and quick wit, Chris lived and loved wholeheartedly. She spoke her mind, laughed often, shared affection generously, and danced a mean jitterbug. She had a sense of style infused with meaning -- a knack for putting things together so that the end result was classy and intriguing, likely with a backstory.
Born in Visalia, California, Chris spent much of her youth in San Jose, California. She was drawn to the Santa Cruz Mountains in her twenties and thereafter could never imagine calling any other place home. Chris became a mom at 32 and loved her son fiercely. Like any parent, she made both great choices and mistakes, and above all always made sure to be there for her son. Chris had many close friendships in her life, the dearest of them with her mother.
Chris was preceded in death by her father, William Andrews. She is survived by her son, Stephen Day; mother, Daisy Pryor; brother, W. Michael Andrews; granddaughters, Kassidy and Samantha; cats, Max and Mickey; her backyard garden paradise; and a whole bunch of friends and family who love her.
A private memorial gathering will be held. Any condolences may be sent to Santa Cruz Watsonville Cremation and Burial Services, Attn: Family of Chris Andrews, 550 Old San Jose Rd., Soquel, CA 95073.

I knew Chris back in grammar school, at Beardsley Elementary, in Oildale (Bakersfield), California. We lived on the same street, Mammoth Avenue, and shared many days of playing after school, and every weekend too. I considered her my best friend, and was sad when her family moved away. I re-connected with her at her baby shower for her son, and then we lost contact. But her birthday was always two days before mine, and I always remembered her, every year...when it was April 25, I would say, "Happy birthday, Chris!".
It was just this morning that I thought of her again and I had a friend who was able to go through Ancestry.com, and find her. The sad news was that she passed just a week ago. I had every intention of calling her and catching up 50+ years,
Well, ol´ friend, I will see you in heaven, God willing, and we surely will catch up then. You were a great buddy to spend my early years with! I loved you then, and I´m sending love to you now.

My friend Chis had been on my mind the past few days, I reached out to say hey and found she had died.
I am so grateful Chris and I had reconnected in the past few years. I met her long ago in the 1970´s when she opened a shop in Boulder Creek called Sweet Magnolia.
I am going to miss her smile and humor. Here´s to my friend Chris. This is a picture of the Boulder Creek sky she loved the most.
