"Charles Chuck Fisher passed away at the age of 55 at 5:15 pm on September 7th at Dominican Hospital with some dear friends by his side. Originally from Indiana, he moved to Santa Cruz in 1978 after spending a few years in Fresno. He was a professional musician, inventor, and computer expert. Given only a few years to survive after becoming a quadriplegic in 1982, he lived life passionately for 27 years as a fiercely independent, opinionated, and self-sufficient member of our community. He is survived by a brother and sister, a host of nephews and nieces, and numerous friends who loved him deeply. He will be greatly missed..."

The Rubber Band
Dave Barry
October 22, 2009
Chuck and I traveled and played together in the Rubber Band circa 1974-1975 (see photo inset). We shared a wry sense of humor, a love of great music and a passion for partying. Those were some of the best times of my life.
After Chuck returned to Phoenix and I to New Jersey, I only got to visit him once in Fresno, but we stayed in touch until the end. Chuck never lost his spirit; he was an inspiration to us all.

I remember when you first hit town. (Fresno) There was a "buzz" about your being there that I never witnessed about any other person, and I'd lived their all my life. When I met you I was kinda taken aback by your outspokenness. But your laughter, your humor, your cynicism and your groove were infectious. No one ever questioned that we were in the presence of "genius", but you never took yourself so serious as to be unapproachable and EVERYONE wanted to be a part of what you had going. I always felt honored that you saw fit to include me because Fresno lacked so much then and you filled a very important void for a lot of people. You were an old friend and a dear one and the Lord truly broke the mold with your origin. I think the reason you stuck around as long as you did was because both Heaven and Hell were scared you'd take over and show them how to run the place. I will always remember you and your deep laughter. Go rest high on the mountain. Aloha.

Chuck; I had the priviledge to watch you perform on several occasions back in the day with my brother Jeff and the rest of the band. What a pleasure it was. May you rest in peace!

My deepest sympathy to Chuck's family. He was a great friend who fortunately I was able to visit with in August before he got so ill. I will miss his determination, inventiveness, sense of humor, and appreciation for good food and drink.

Our deepest sympathy to Chuck's family. Chuck and I worked together to develop a resonator guitar that he could play comfortably. We kept in touch and I have fond memories of Chuck. I know that you were greeted by a host of angels who enjoyed your music and finally played it without pain. Carroll and Anita Benoit

Chuck aka "da quad" I know you're looking down on us now. I'm never going to forget our jam sessions and our heart to hearts. You were a true fighter and your passion for life was inspiring.

With sadness I read of Chuck's passing. So many years with so many fights just to live as normally as he could. Bless him. His fighting spirit lives on through you all who gave so much and helped to keep him going. Rick and Ken, Jeff and Paula, you are all in my thoughts. Chuck will be honored in memory. May he now fly free without the constraints this life put upon his soul.
