Corinne Roy Obituary

Corinne Eda Roy
Dec. 9, 1938 – Feb. 22, 2017
Resident of Soquel
Corinne Roy passed away peacefully at her Soquel home with her beloved husband of 57 years by her side. While we mourn our loss, we also take comfort in that she will join her son, Eric Roy, in eternal rest. Friends and family will gather on Saturday, March 4th to say farewell to a loving wife, extraordinary mother, grandmother, devoted friend and teacher. Born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, she was 78 years old.
Corinne earned her Bachelor's degree in literature from UC Berkeley. She led a remarkable life, travelling and living throughout the world including Turkey, Uruguay, Canada, Lebanon, Egypt and Kenya. She had an adventurous spirit and was filled with life; Corinne exhibited a charming elegance and wit that drew people to her. As a mother, Corinne was so very special. Our bond with our mother will never be broken.
She took pride in her profession, and was a teacher while she lived abroad teaching literature and Spanish to high school students. She was active in community organizations too as giving back was important to her. Corinne wanted to help others less fortunate than her and served in a range of activities from helping the homeless to teaching in public schools in Washington D.C. Corinne was an accomplished Bridge player, with many lifelong friendships from the countless Bridge clubs that she belonged to. She was a talented tennis player too, and enjoyed the times she shared with her friends at Imperial Courts in Aptos.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Delwin Roy of Soquel, her daughters; Dana Roy Green of New York; and Kimberley Davis of Gainesville, Virginia. She also leaves an identical twin sister, Laurie Laughlin of Capitola; her sister Julie Wyatt of Scotts Valley; and three grandchildren: Devon Adams Green, Alec Roy Green, and Luke Davis. Mrs. Roy was preceded in death by her son, Eric Roy.
A memorial ceremony will take place on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, beginning at 1 P.M. She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church Columbarium in Incline Village, Nevada. Any kind acts of charity can be made in her memory to Firelight Foundation (www.firelightfoundation.org) whose mission is to help empower African Communities to create lasting change for children and families affected by poverty, HIV, and AIDS. So sorry to hear about the death of your wonderful wife and mother. I had the pleasure of knowing Corinne when you lived in Smoke Rise. We played a lot of tennis together. She was always so much fun to be around. My sympathies go out to all your family. I lost my husband last June , Del. So I know the sadness and emptiness you feel. Love to all of you.
Sincerely and much love June Bruce
