Everett Peterson was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 11, 1919. After graduating from technical school he joined IBM in 1939. During World War II he served in the US Navy as Chief Petty Officer, maintaining IBM equipment. After the war he married his wife of 61 years, Mae, and together they raised three children.
Everett loved music, and during his years in Minnesota was a soloist and choir director. He also loved to teach the Bible in his local church. In 1966 he moved his family to San Jose, California. In 1997 he and Mae moved to Spring Lakes Park in Scotts Valley. During his years in California he enjoyed writing, focusing on a variety of subjects, his favorite being Science in the Bible.
Everett died on July 11th, on his 88th birthday. At the time he was a resident at the Chanticleer Home. He is survived by his wife, Mae Peterson of Scotts Valley, daughter, Trudy Carlson and husband Donovan of Scotts Valley, sons, Ron Peterson and wife Sheryl of Rochester, Minnesota and Ric Peterson and wife Suzie of Clovis, California, sisters, Aurette Peterson of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Joyce Nelms of Citrus Heights, California, and brother James Peterson of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was blessed with ten grandchildren and 12 great-granchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2007 at 3 PM at the Community Covenant Church of Scotts Valley, 2700 El Rancho Drive in Scotts Valley.. A reception will follow. Memorial gifts may be given in his name to Community Covenant Church. The family is grateful to God for Everett, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, for a life well-lived.
